County Roads 23, 29 and 51 provide routes of transportation in this area. Shaw School rests on the south side of Section 3, and Banfield School District 27 stands on Section 4. Austin High School and Central Grade School are in the heart of the city in Section 3. Austin's Junior College is located on the north side of Section 3. Calvary Catholic Cemetery lies on Section 10 beside State Highway 105. East Side Lake (a man-made lake) is located on Section 2. The Mower County Pioneer Historical and Agricultural Society, established in 1947, and the Mower County Fairgrounds stand on the southeast quarter of Section 4. Calvary Cemetery lies along the west side of Turtle Creek in the center of Section 10, east of State Highway 105. Horace Austin State Park, established in 1914, and Mill Pond (a man-made lake) are located on the north corner of Section 3. The Chicago Great Western Railroad travels north and south of Austin. Austin Acres, a subsistence homestead project, was built west of Turtle Creek on Section 9. Marcussen Park is on the southeast side of Austin.
