The St. Paul Free Medical Dispensary was incorporated in 1897. Cornelia Day Wilder (1868-1903) was an early supporter, and James J. Hill was Board President. In 1923, Amherst H. Wilder Charities assumed complete financial and management responsibility for the organization. Physicians and residents at the dispensary worked free of charge to provide free medical and dental care to individuals in need.
St. Paul's College in St. Paul Park, organized in 1889 offered both a preparatory and collegiate course. St. Paul's was organized and supported by the Northern German Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This conference included German Methodist congregation in Minnesota plus some in Wisconsin and North Dakota. The school operated until 1917, closing under financial difficulties and the stress of being a German-speaking institution during World War I. Supporters were encouraged to shift allegiance to Hamline University.

Jane Grey Swisshelm (1815-1884) was an abolitionist and advocate of women's rights. She ran the newspapers "The St. Cloud Visitor" and the "St. Cloud Democrat."
One atlas (394 pages), illustrated, maps (part colored), portraits, 46 cm. Minnesota Historical Society reserve copy originally purchased in 1874 by Christian Schrade of Lakeland, Minnesota. In 1981, it was donated to Minnesota Historical Society by Myrtle P. Schrade, a descendant of Christian Schrade.
Published first annual report of the Chief Fire Warden with special emphasis on summarizing 1895 fires, formation of the fire warden program, fire prevention, and reforestation needs.
Portrait of Frank M. Eddy (1856-1929). Eddy was the first native Minnesotan to represent our state in Congress. Eddy was Pope County clerk of court for ten years, Seventh District Representative to Congress (1895-1903), publisher of the Sauk Centre Herald (1916), and worked in the Minnesota Secretary of State's office (1918-1929).
This volume contains the debates, etc., of the Republican section of the Minnesota Constitutional convention. The Democratic and the Republican sections of the convention met separately. The constitution finally adopted was the work of a joint committee. This volume is 624 pages and was printed by G. W. Moore.

Black and white photograph of a grocerry store, probably in Shakopee. The sign on the building reads, "Groceries & Provisions." Writing on the reverse side indicates it might have been H.H. Strunk, but it does not correspond to other photographs of other properties owned by Strunk.
In addition to its usual coordination of Minneapolis charitable work, Associated Charities formed a fire relief committee to aid citizens affected by the east side lumber district fire. The families rendered homeless by the fire were provided with food and shelter. Please see pages 37-44 for more information.
