Aerial View of Le Roy Township Sections 27, 28, 33 and 34 shows farmland, trees, roads and homes. Old Le Roy was platted on Section 28, but when the railroad was constructed one mile southeast, the settlers decided to move the town and businesses to have the advantages of the railroad at their backdoor. Le Roy was platted in 1867 on Section 34. County Roads 8, 12 and 53, along with State Highway 56 provide routes of transportation in Le Roy and the township sections. Le Roy School District 5 is located in Section 34. St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Le Roy (City) Cemetery and Le Roy Lutheran Cemetery all rest near each other in the center of Section 28. The Chicago Great Western Railroad cuts diagonally through the sections and Le Roy, intersecting with the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad. Aerial View of Lyle Township Sections 25, 26, 35 and 36 shows farmland, trees, roads and homes. Village of Lyle was platted on Section 36 in 1870. The Lyle Village School District 70 is located within the city's limits. County Road 6 crosses Federal Highway 218 that travels along side the rails shared by both the Chicago Great Western Railroad and the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad between Austin and Lyle. The Illinois Central Railroad enters Lyle from the west and travels southward into Iowa. The pillars of the entrance to the First National Bank at 225 South Minnesota Avenue in St. Peter dominate much of the right half of this image. Horse-drawn wagons can be seen along a row of hitching posts at the edge of the sidewalk.
