Dickinson acquired the Alexandria Hotel at Geneva Beach from Mr. Letson, an early resort builder, and changed the name to the Geneva Hotel. The Hotel burned in Sept 2 1911. It was thought that the "new fangled" electric lights was the cause.

Turner, of the Gillette-Herzog Manufacturing Company of Minneapolis, designed the Ferry Bridge with Suspended Car Transfer in February 1901, meeting federal specifications. Bids were opened March 25, 1901, but only one was received. The Duluth Canal Bridge Company was awarded the contract but abandoned the work. In February, 1904, the Modern Steel Structural Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin was issued a contract. Work began July 20, 1904.

No. 502 People have always watched the aerial bridge. Engineer C.A.P. Turner, of the Gillette-Herzog Manufacturing Company of Minneapolis, designed the Ferry Bridge with Suspended Car Transfer in February 1901, meeting federal specifications. Bids were opened March 25, 1901, but only one was received. The Duluth Canal Bridge Company was awarded the contract but abandoned the work. In February 1904, the Modern Steel Structural Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin was issued a contract. Work began July 20, 1904. On February 23, 1905, with a full complement of local dignitaries at hand, the bridge was first operated. Regular service began the next day according to newspaper accounts. The city engineer's report for 1905 stated that the bridge was "completed and commenced operation on May 5, 1905, and a few problems were corrected in running the bridge over the next few days." This post card was mailed in 1914.

The C.M. Foss is surrounded by Scaffolding. Carpenters will stand on the scaffolding to work. Individual boards are used as the sheeting later to be covered with siding. Today this is the home of John and Joy Thomsen.
The C.M. Foss home still is present today. It is a private home on the corner of Division Street and Garfield Street. Mr. and Mrs. Foss are standing in front of their home with young trees, several flowers and shrubs around the house. The front of the house has a large screen porch.
Another Great Depression-era building whose life hangs in the balance. It stands empty since the City of Ely built a new library and left the building untenented. In its heyday it housed the library, club rooms, a ballroom on the top floor with a movie theater, a full kitchen, public showers, and more.
Post Card No. 60761, printed in Germany, shows what is today called the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center or the St. Peter State Hospital. The following message was addressed to Miss Nathalie Asp, 18 E. 3rd St., Duluth, Minn: "Dear friend-- Don't know if you have a path like this or not-- Don't keep Jennie to [sic.] long, as we are getting lonesome for her. Am going up to see Nannie this evening. Lovingly, Mrs. H. B."

O. M. Edsill purchased the general store in 1908. The Edsills added on living quarters and a section for a hardware store. A man and two girls pose in front, possibly O. M. Edsill and daughters Rose and Lillie.

This Greek Revival-style building became the permanent home of the American Fraternal Union in 1933. Founded and incorporated on July 18, 1898, the offices were in two previous locations before this building was constructed. The office closed in 2012 and the home office was moved to St. Paul, Minnesota.

Cottage tenements of Crosby, Minnesota, were also known as Honeymoon Row. The cottages are under construction, with horses and buggies parked outside. These four-room cottages, built by the mine owners, rented for $12 a month including sewer, water, electric lights and a sanitary closet.
Honeymoon Row, Crosby, Minnesota, was streets of small cottages built by mining companies to accommodate miners and their families. A horse and buggy travel the unpaved street.
