The Merritt Block or Merritt building was built by the Leonidas and Alfred Merritt brothers at First Street between St. Paul and Brook in Oneota. It was destroyed by a fire in about 1898.

This may be the parcel of land donated by Thomas Merritt in honor of his uncle, Cassius Merritt. F. Rodney Paine identifies the photo as "Merritt Memorial Park - Cassius."

This is the Merritt Memorial Park grounds and a dog. A plaque on a large cut bolder explains that Leonidas Merritt donated the park and playground in honor of his clergyman brother Lucien.
