This express steamboat "White Bear" has just passed under the new steel bridge at the Narrows. Its advertising sign says it is an express for Zumbra; this channel connects the Upper Lake to the Lower Lake of Lake Minnetonka; the bridge connects Orono and Tonka Bay, postmarked 1916.

This is a photograph of Thomson Road in its early days, near the village of Thomson, with Henry Ruikka's fields and hay shed in the background. Note the fence posts, rocks piled along the fence line, and the horse's tracks in the middle of the wagon's tracks in the road. This was the first road linking the then Village of Thomson to what would become known as "Esko's Corner," and was a challenge for both man and horse in the early days.

This cartoon pokes fun at the driving habits of the citizens of Minneapolis. A Minneapolis family is out for a spin; a farmer hauling a load of hay on his tractor honks at a man in a horse-driven wagon; a stylishly-dressed woman addresses her chauffeur; and a Minneapolis Messenger Service driver reads at the wheel.
Two girls petting mules. The mules are hooked up to a cart. There are five children, one woman and two men on the cart. Images in this collection were found in the attic of an old farm house in Kandiyohi County formerly owned by George Kallevig. Whether these negatives are from the Kallevig family or not is unknown.
