The Justice of the Peace docket is a handwritten record of civil and criminal cases heard by Justices of the Peace in Otsego, Minnesota from 1884 to 1921. These records include the names of plaintiffs and defendants, arresting constables, evidence presented, and judgments made. These details reflect local values, customs, and personalities. Included are Justices of the Peace: Z. L. Case, Charles Snow, A. W. Praught, A. Plaisance, Joseph McDonald, D. W. M Leod, and Edson Washburn, Jr. Also included are Constables A. J. Wood, L. B. Hamlet, Barnard Duffy, W. H. LaPlant, Theodore Aydt, Edmund Fisetle, and J. A. McEachern.

Report of the 15th annual conference of the Minnesota Library Association, written by Secretary-Treasurer Elizabeth W. Clute. The conference took place in the Senate Committee rooms, New Capitol, St. Paul, Minnesota September 25-28, 1907.
A team of three horses is pulling a binder to cut the grain and puts it in individual bundles. A man is riding the open binder The second man is gathering the bundles and placing them in shocks to be later thrashed.
The first creamery in Hendricks was located by the creek in the northwest part of town. A slaughter house was nearby off the creek. A man is standing in his wagon delivering two cream cans to the creamery. A horse is pulling the man and his cart.
J. Hanson and Mrs. Reverend M.B. Lokkesmoe are posing for a picture in front of a sod house. J. Hanson is dressed up as a trapper. They have been in a parade celebrating the 50th year celebration of the settling of the Hendricks area.
Five men have been busy loading a straw bundle wagon and are taking a break. The straw bundles will be later threshed in a threshing machine. The men are sitting on and around the large steam engine. One man is sitting on the large wheel used by the belt to power the threshing machine.
Pictured is the interior of the Lakeview Hotel which stood where the Legion Hall stands now on Lincoln Street. Also pictured is Mr. Henry Dickinson who managed the hotel in the early 1900s. It is said that in 1908 the Dickinson's served a three course Easter dinner for $0.35.
On the left is Ed Goodoien and on the right is clerk Pete Shelstad. An early general store. It stood on the corner of Main and Lincoln Street in Hendricks, Minnesota. Display cases and shelves are filled with merchandise on both sides of the center aisle.
The Henry Kurth Jr. home was used as the first post office for the New Grove Community. Several children are lined up with warm coats, chairs, and doll buggies. Some of the boys have caps and suspenders and the girls are all in long dresses.
The train is pulled up to the elevators. The depot is also present on the right. The elevators are the Hendricks Farmers elevator, Sexaur's, Hendricks Coop Elevator and Jennison. Only the Hendricks farmers elevator exists today as the business but not the elevator building. Two tracks were present to allow a train to come through while railroad cars were standing to be loaded. Behind the depot on the right is the water tower for trains. The trains used the water to make steam to power the engine.
Sivert Olson, the first manager of the elevator, is ready to unload a wagon of grain pulled by a team of horses. On the side track are three railroad cars waiting to be used.
Three elevators and the depot are present. A railroad freight car is being unloaded on the platform. Today the elevators are gone and the depot has been moved to the lake park and is now the Lincoln County Pioneer Museum
The wooden frame hotel was three stories tall. It stands where the American Legion Hall is now in Hendricks, Minnesota. The street in front of the hotel was dirt with the sidewalk well above street level. Also along the street are telephone poles with eight cross boards attached.

Trinity Lutheran Church still stands today. It is on the northeast corner of Main Street and Hobart. The church has been added to since this picture was taken. The church at this time was at the edge of town with no other buildings around it.
The Norwegian Lutheran Church, Hendricks, Minnesota, became a spinoff congregation from Singsaas Lutheran Church. This building was First Lutheran Church until they moved to another building in 1963. Today this building is the Grace United Methodist church. When built the church was at the edge of town , only longer grass around it with no other buildings.
The Hendricks Band is posing for a picture holding their instruments. Thirteen members are dressed in coat and ties holding instruments, drums, trumpets, clarinets, and tubas.
Jens Forseth and Andrew Hinsverk are visiting with each other, taking a break. One of the men has been cutting up firewood and the other man is carrying a rifle and has probably been hunting.
Many people are sitting around picnic tables at lake Hendricks for summer enjoyment dressed up with the women in long dresses. A coaster wagon was used to carry the food to the tables.
Several young men and women are singing from the Best Hymns Hymnbook. They are all dressed up and with a blackboard on the wall it looks as though they are in a school building.
Little Falls, Minnesota: Its Present and Future, 1907. Booklet with brown cover, color drawing of Little Falls dam on front cover, 28 pages, includes black and white photos of local scenes throughout. Primarily discusses geography, climate, natural resources and businesses of the city. Focuses especially on the water power provided by the Little Falls dam. Also touches on schools, churches, and railroad lines in the city.
Plat book of Morrison County, Minnesota, circa 1902-1907. Spine says, "Map of Morrison County." Hardcover, tan with brown spine and corners. Though hardcover, this book appears to be a scrapbook, with irregular fold-out pages of plat maps cut from another source and pasted within. Inside the front cover, there are several stamp markings that say, ""Carl Bolander,LAND and LOAN AGENT, Little Falls, Minn."" This book was donated to MCHS by Don Derosier, who took over as owner of the Girtz Barbershop in Little Falls. The barbershop was located in the Vertin Block, which was built by John Vertin for his real estate and insurance business. The barbershop was started by Joseph Girtz, whose wife was Agnes (Vertin) Girtz, one of the daughters of John Vertin. This book was found in the basement of the Vertin Block when Don Derosier took ownership of the building. While the connection between Carl Bolander and John Vertin is unknown, there is a high probability that this book was used by John Vertin. This book was one of a number of plat books from John Vertin that was donated by Don Derosier. John Vertin played a larger role in the community, serving as city treasurer for Little Falls for 44 years. He was also on the city council for 3 terms, served as president of the Chamber of Commerce for a time, helped organize Little Falls Federal Savings and Loan, and was a founding partner of the Little Falls Black Granite Company.
Veterinarian Myron H. Reynolds in buggy, drawn by his horse Lucille. Reynolds, trained as a veterinarian, pharmacist, and physician, was appointed staff veterinarian at the Division of Veterinary Science in the College of Agriculture at the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota in 1893. He helped organize the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, served on the Minnesota Board of Health and on the Livestock Sanitary Board. He was the University's only veterinarian until 1904. The St. Paul campus Power House, built in 1897, is in the background, right.

Also visible in the foreground below the bridge are pilings designed to protect the bridge footing from ice breaking up in the spring. Also visible in the distance are a number of Moorhead businesses, primarily saloons.

Group photo in front of the Telegraphers School held in the old city hall in Detroit, Minnesota (became Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, in 1926). Site is located on Lake Avenue in the middle of lot 13, Block 17. It was originally moved here from the old site on Pioneer Street.
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church was founded in 1902. The congregation first built a rectory and then a basement church in 1907 on Fifth Avenue. The parish, which became one of the largest in the state, built a church atop the basement in 1922, and eventually built a much larger sanctuary in 1952 in a school-convent complex three blocks to the east on land donated by the John Farrell family.
First bridge over the Mississippi River that connected Anoka and Champlin, MN. The original bridge was constructed in 1884 and stood until 1929 when the current Anoka-Champlin bridge was completed.
A narrative account of the daily management and functioning of the organization, a St. Paul orphanage established shortly after the end of the Civil War. The handwritten account records the monthly board meetings, notes the number of children resident each month, lists donations received, and documents the daily issues and concerns of running of the orphanage. Volume V covers 1905 to 1915. Two additional minutes books reside in the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society.
First volume from the organization, describing the original formation and activities of the charity in the early 20th century. The handwritten record book predates the official incorporation of the three family charities into a single charity, The Amherst H. Wilder Charity, in 1910.

The image shows railroad tracks, grain elevators, the water tower, the Fosston Woolen Mills, and the High Shool. The High School was built in 1905 and burned down in 1913. The image also shows residences and other buildings of the town of Fosston.
