An annual report documenting the main activities of the charity for the years 1917-1918. Departmental reports include: the relief department, visiting nurses, Wilder public baths, day nursery, health center, central registration bureau, food conservation, survey work and research.
The St. Paul Free Medical Dispensary was incorporated in 1897. Cornelia Day Wilder (1868-1903) was an early supporter, and James J. Hill was Board President. In 1923, Amherst H. Wilder Charities assumed complete financial and management responsibility for the organization. Physicians and residents at the dispensary worked free of charge to provide free medical and dental care to individuals in need.

Initial, subsequent, and detachment muster rolls for the Minnesota Infantry Regiment Company D, detailing the status of each man in the company as reporting for duty, sick, or absent, as well as any transfers. This record includes Minnesota National Guard men transferred to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Bell Lumber and Pole Yards began business in 1919, treating telephone poles and lumber. The company hired many local men and is still in business today. In mid-1980s, after being declared a Superfund site by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Bell began the process of cleaning up the hazardous chemicals on its property, spending over $10 million to do so and also to rebuild the plant to treat poles and lumber using environmentally clean processes. This panorama photo shows the pole treating plant and the large telephone poles treated in the process.
This is the page of printed instructions from the Minnesota Loom. These assembly instructions were packed with the Minnesota Loom, which was designed and distributed by Hilma Berglund.
Thisbooklet, written by Hilma Berglund, consists of 8 pages and a cover. It contains recommendations for mordanting, equipment, dyestuffs and fibers. It includes directions for the dye process and a chart of plants, mordants and resulting colors. The colors are identified using the Munsell Color System notations.
A woven swatch in green and off-white cotton threads, mounted on cardstock, woven by Hilma Berglund. The weaving is 8 x 13.5. The title "Eight-Harness Double Weave" is hand printed by Hilma Berglund.

A woven swatch in cotton threads, with pencil drawn draft, and notations in ink. Titled "raindrops" it is a 4 shaft lace weave. The 3 items are mounted on card stock. The woven swatch is 6 x 21cm.
Hilma Berglund printed this Christmas card in 1965, using dark brown ink on bittersweet paper, trimmed with yellow and orange paper. Below the fold she applied a light wash of ink to create a slightly darker background. The card when unfolded is 10.3 x 22.5cm.
Drafts are presented on a sheet of 18cm by 11cm notebook paper. The title "Two-Color Threadings (Atwater bulletin February 1947)" is typewritten. Five drafts, hand-drawn on graph paper, are glued to the sheet. Treadling order is typed below each draft. Three swatches, woven by Hilma Berglund using cotton carpet warp for both warp and weft, show color and weave variations. Swatch A (labeled using the blank from the side of a sheet of stamps) follows the draft. Swatch B has two variations;, the draft B treadling and the draft D treadling. Swatch C has three sections: light weft, dark weft, and light and dark weft alternating. The first 2 sections have treadling variations.

Report of the second annual meeting of the Minnesota Library Association held December 26, 1892 in the rooms of the State Historical Society in St. Paul. Total association membership equals 15. Minutes were read, officers elected for the coming year, and a call for meetings to be held quarterly rather than annually to encourage interest in the organization. J.F. Williams read a paper on "The Librarian as a Public Servant" and Dr. Hosmer read a paper on "Browsing." The topic of freedom on access to library shelves discussed, with group agreeing that more freedom was better.
Report of the first annual meeting of the Minnesota Library Association held on December 29, 1891 in the rooms of the State Historical Society in St. Paul with the purpose to organize State Library Association based on recommendations of the American Library Association and similar to associations in other states. Motion was made to create a constitution which was submitted and approved after the meeting [available separately]. Elected officers for the next year are William W. Folwell, President; Helen McCaine, Vice President; and J.F. Williams, Secretary & Treasurer. The Secretary was directed to prepare a circular announcing the organization and be sent to every librarian in the State.
Report of the Spring Quarterly Meeting of the Minnesota Library Association held March 29, 1893 in the rooms of the State Historical Society with 19 members present. Welcome by Ex- Governor Ramsey. Minutes were read and approved. Topics discussed include library architecture (Dr. Folwell), open versus closed stacks and freedom of access for patrons, and a proposed system of travelling libraries to be sent around the state (Miss Countryman). Resolution made expressing sympathy for J. Fletcher Williams in his present illness.

The M.L.A Peddler was created and conceived by the Junior members of the Minnesota Library Association. The first issue states "...[The] Peddler will bring you bits of personal gossip, news about library enterprises, [and] matters of friendly interest."

Neill), announcing resumption of operations on September 5, 1859 at the school's leased building on Walnut Street. The Principal, Assistant, and courses of instruction are mentioned, as are tuition, transportation to the building, and furnishing descriptions. The announcement includes the blue Baldwin School seal in Latin at the top. The Baldwin School was for female youth, however a limited number of boys were admitted if they had sisters in attendance.
