Members are gathered outside in front of a monument-like structure. The 10th Convention of the Minnesota Association of the Deaf was held in Minneapolis during June 30-July 2, 1909. The man standing on the left side, to the left of a woman with a hat full of flowers and a noticeable belt buckle, is Dr. James L. Smith. To the right of Anson Spear is an unknown woman with a bow tie, and then standing in front of her is Jay Cooke Howard (bald man).
