This is the West Duluth plant of the Zenith Furnace Company. West Duluth is a neighborhood of Duluth. Captain August B. Wolvin bought the aging blast furnace at this Fifty-seventh Avenue West location, modernized it and organized Zenith Furnace to operate it. It produced pig iron. It was incorporated in 1902. The plant produced 175 tons of product in 24 hours. In one month in 1916, a record of 310 tons of pig iron was produced in 24 hours. The site covers 80 acres and includes a coal dock. Coal gas, ammonia, and coal tar are by-products. It employed 350 men with a payroll of $35,000 a month in 1916.

Bill Ritt sold Edison phonographs and records at this store at 500 South Minnesota Avenue in St. Peter. Posters of famous musicians are on the walls, and an assortment of phonographs are visible along the walls. A note on the reverse states that the store carried the complete catalog of Edison records, nearly five thousand of them.

These boats were towed upstream to the furthest point of the logging operation and then floated downstream as the timber crews worked the logs down the river. This practice kept the bunkhouse and cook shanties close to where the men were working.

Following a fire which destroyed their grocery store in 1961, owners Gene and Mary Kearney built the Valley Shopping Center on Burns Street (renamed 124th Street West) Savage, Minnesota, which included a new location for the Savage Post Office, Bloomquist Hardware, Jim Brady Drug and Kearney's Variety and Grocery store.

Trout Lake beneficiation (or benefication) plant near Coleraine was completed in 1909-1910, to raise the iron content of lean, sandy ores. Beneficiation (or benefication) is one of a variety of process that treats the raw iron ore to separate the ore into the usable mineral and the part of the ore that is unusable (gangue).

The remains of the Lampert Lumber Company at 228 West Grace Street in St. Peter can be seen in the foreground after the damage caused by a 1924 tornado. The Konsbruck Hotel along South Third Street is in the background. The Tegner & Peterson grocery store was located at 408 South Third Street.

The Vine Street Cafe, Utility and Gas Service, Rosecran's Electric, the Colonial Bakery, and then Singewald's roofing were at one time located in this former residence on Vine Street, (renamed Ottawa Avenue) Savage, Minnesota. The building was torn down in 1982 for an apartment complex.

One of the final photographs of the Savage Minnesota's VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and Vine Street Bar before being torn down as part of the 1969 redevelopment of downtown Savage. The two buildings were replaced by a single restaurant. Vine Street has been renamed Ottawa Avenue.
