Steiner was one of 18 carvers hired to work on the Turnblad mansion when he was 26 years old. He carved the cherubs in the music room and the wreath over the fireplace in the dining room. Completed in 1908, the Swan J. Turnblad mansion was built in the French Chateauesque style. The house became the American Swedish Institute in 1929.

Exterior view of the Sveadahl Store in Sveadahl. C.A. Holmquist. The store is no longer in existence. It was built in 1894 by Nels Nelson and sold the usual fare as well as serving as a locker plant. The store closed in 1967.
The streetcar company employed a number of specialized work cars, including this one equipped with a crane. It sorted rail behind the the Snelling Shops.

Park Hotel constructed of brick with three stories and white wooden porches. Located on 10th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue. Later renamed the Basinger Hotel. Torn down in 1958.

Exterior view of Mount Sinai Hospital on a winter day soon after it was built. Mount Sinai Hospital was built in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the 1950s to address the discrimination Jewish doctors experienced admitting Jewish patients to local hospitals.

Exterior view of the Mendota Convent School. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet staffed the Mendota Convent School (a. k. a. the Sibley House) from 1867 - 1879. The school was owned by the nearby Church of St. Peter. Students included children of Native Americans and white settlers.

Main Street in Crosby, Minnesota, had many businesses. On the left can be seen Bon Ton Cafe, Crosby Theater and a motel. On the right are Keely Drug, Anderson Taylor Shop, Smith's Variety, a bar and a hardware store.
Scene on the Kakelugn depicts Jacob Fugger burning expensive spices in his fireplace during a visit by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. Charles owed Fugger for many IOUs, and Fugger said he would burn them too as there was no hope of getting repaid. Completed in 1908, the Swan J. Turnblad mansion was built in the French Chateauesque style. The house became the American Swedish Institute in 1929.

The Jewish Home for the Aged was established in St. Paul in 1908 as a care facility for the elderly poor. The building in the picture was the second home, opening in 1923. It provided room and care for indigent Jewish elders from throughout the state.
