Library service to the Long Lake community in western Hennepin County began in 1913, when the library was housed out of the Long Lake Bank Building. The library merged with the Hennepin County Library system in 1922. For several decades, the library operated out of various locations in the community, until it settled in a commercial storefront space in the Long Lake Town Center Mall in 1995.

Below the hill and south of the Old Trondhjem Church, this one-room schoolhouse was purchased in 1957 by the the Trondhjem Lutheran Church. It was used as a church fellowship hall. It was destroyed by fire in 2007.

The St. Paul Talmud Torah was created in 1956 through the merger of several different Jewish education institutions as a beneficiary of the United Jewish Fund and Council. Oversight for Jewish education was centered in the Jewish Education Association, which planned and developed all forms of local Jewish learning, including weekday school and Sunday schools.

Two boys read near a card catalog in the Hosmer branch of Minneapolis Public Library. Originally known as the Thirty-sixth Street Branch, this building was built in 1916 with funds from the Carnegie Corporation and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The Minneapolis Public Library wasy founded in 1885 and grew to include a Central Library and fourteen branches. In 2008 the library was merged into the Hennepin County Library system.

Stewart Hall, which opened in 1948 as St. Cloud State's main classroom building, was named for Warren Stewart. Stewart served as St. Cloud State resident director from 1938 to 1948.
Kiehle was opened in 1952 as St. Cloud State's first building built as a library. It served as the campus library until 1971. Since 1974, Kiehle has served as home to the Department of Art.

This is a photograph of an early one-room schoolhouse shortly after it was moved to its present site as the first building at the Esko Historical Society's museum in Esko. The general membership at the time is photographed in front of the school house and next to the monument, which is inscribed with the following: "In Memory of the early Pioneers (1872) and the Early Finnish Pioneers who arrived in 1873." It was designed by local artist Edgar F. Olson. The smokestack to the left is from the Arrowhead Creamery. In the front row are Emil Johnson, Vieno Hill, Selem Lamminen, Hulda Heikkinen, and Julia Sunnarborg. The second row has ?, Mrs. Emil Johnson, Emerth Nynas, Mrs. Lamminen, Waino Heikkinen, Mrs. Palkie, Edgar Olson, and Ed Tan. In the third row are ?, Evert Myllymaa, and Jack Kinnunen.
