Background
This book is the first written history of Kandiyohi County in west central Minnesota. It includes the history of Kandiyohi County townships, government, schools, churches and people. Along with the history are plat maps and photographs of many people, places and things in Kandiyohi County. It was compiled by Victor E. Lawson.
Significance
This book tells the story of how two counties became one and the struggle of starting new governments. There are many personal accounts of the European settlement written by the first European settlers in this county detailing their struggles and successes. This book tells the history of Kandiyohi County in an interesting way by including political, military, geological, family history, church and school histories. The use of maps, photographs and charts help to demonstrate the history it is telling.
