This map of Duluth and the surrounding area as of 1865 was drawn by R.E. Carey based on old records and memoirs. The accompanying booklet, also by Carey, describes historical sites in Duluth, which are number coded on the map. Sites include early houses, a sawmill, a schoolhouse, an early brewery, the Vermilion Trail, and a stone quarry.
Early Barn Bluff businesses are shown. On the far left is the sawmill of Grannis, Daniels and Company. The Francis Ives building is in the center and the Metropolitan Hotel, which was later destroyed by a fire in 1869, is on the left.

The Bradley House (built in 1855 by Albert Stevens) was sold to J. T. Bradley in 1861. This stagecoach stop, located at the east end, facing north, of the then College Street (now 4th Street) bridge, a block east of Broadway was on the Old Dubuque Trail. A fancy coach met all trains and transported customers and their baggage to the Bradley House.

Eight page photograph album documenting the life of the Peck family of St. James, Minnesota. Images include portraits of the various Peck family members, as well as views of buildings in and around St. James. Buildings depicted include the St. James High School, the creamery and the Watonwan County Courthouse. There is an early image of the Mount Hope Cemetery. Also included are a number of images documenting the activities of the members of the local Grand Army of the Republic Post and Drum Corps.
Daily experiences of William E. Stork at Bryant Stratton and Spencer's Commercial School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; the reconstruction era of the Civil War, and farming in southern Minnesota. Events of particular interest include his work near Vicksburg, Mississippi, cutting wood, clearing brush, and working on the ice boat; the difficulties of getting food rations and payment during this time; news of his sister Ann's death in May of 1866 and the ensuing difficulties getting home via steamer with a fever; farm labor that included slaughtering hogs, digging potatoes, plowing fields, digging wells and placing stones, and taking grain to the mill; visits with his mother, Grace Stork, and siblings Rosalie, Charley, Edwin, Adaline, and Aaron; notes of natural events like the first frost October 22 and snowstorms; teaching school at the Stone School House beginning December 3 and the ensuing spelling and singing schools; serving as Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and holding special town meetings in 1867.

This book records the activities of the city council including meeting attendees, petitions, disbursements, ordinances considered, licenses issued, and reports from various officers (such as the City Attorney and the Comptroller).

This is an original plat of Olmsted County with many handwritten notes and drawings showing early Minnesota settlers, farmers and other town landscape features. This map is the earliest documentation we have found in our collection of the farms, towns, and topography of Olmsted County, Minnesota.
One volume of the 1872 ledger with hand drawn plat maps and landowners written in pencil. The ledger has what is thought to be a bullet hole perforating the book almost cover to cover. The twelve Waseca County townships have all been included, however not all plats drawn contain content. The back of the ledger contains five entries of bounties paid for wolves and taxes collected in the early villages of Clear Lake City, Village of Wilton and East Janesville in Waseca County, Minnesota.
