This was once the home of the Zachris Peter Hedberg family in St. Peter. The house is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Fourth and Walnut Streets, facing Fourth Street. Zachris is sitting in a chair on the lawn, below his wife, Johanna, and his daughter, Hilda. Son Harry is in the corner tower, and Johanna's parents, Fajer and Hanna Knutson, are sitting on a bench on the lawn.
The Aitkin Public Library, built in 1911, is the only East Central Regional Library branch to have received funds from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. It served the Aitkin, Minnesota community until 1991 when a new library was built. Founded in 1959, ECRL is the oldest existing regional public library system in Minnesota. Headquartered in Cambridge, it is a consolidated library system with 14 libraries and Outreach Services and serves residents in Aitkin, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties.
Ashippun Post Office was the first in Watonwan County. It was built in 1857 and was located on Watonwan River's south branch in Rosedale Township. In 1925 it was moved to the City Park in Madelia by the local chapter of the D.A.R.
