Steer with Johne's disease on the Charles Behr farm, Paynesville. The photo was probably meant to illustrate the test site in the shaved area on the steer's neck. A wattle and daub outbuilding is in the background. Notes on reverse of photo say: "tests made by Drs. [Clifford P.] Fitch and [Willard L.] Boyd" and: "Dunkin intradermal Johnin test." Fitch and Boyd were veterinarians in the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota. The Dunkin test was first publicized in 1928.

The Schultz Lake Special is a customized vehicle designed by Harry R. Kohagen that is half car, half sleigh or sled. In 1930, Harry Kohagen is president of the Kohagen-Mendenhall Company offering real estate loans and insurance from their offices in the First National Bank building. The unidentified men could be automotive specialists or real estate agents. Schultz Lake is just beyond Duluth city limits in Gnesen Township.

Naniboujou Club or Naniboujou Lodge in Cook County Minnesota near Grand Marais that comprises about 3,300 acres about 125 miles from Duluth about 15 miles from the Pigeon river was opening to many notables. Invitations were sent to 800 members, in July 1929. It never grew as expected due to the 1929 crash. It still stands. It is a lodge with a dining room right on the lake.

The school faculty expressed their appreciation to the students in this Christmas edition. An operetta in three acts was given by the boys' and girls' Glee Club of Lincoln School. A performance was given by comedic magician Jim Manchester. A sleigh ride party from Lincoln School to Washington School and back again via Harney Road was enjoyed by 4-H Club members despite rainy evening weather. A Sunday school program was presented, with numbers listed. A Christmas program given at Lincoln School. The Lincoln boys beat Meadowlands in basketball, but they split a two game series with Wrenshall. The Lincoln girls also beat Wrenshall in basketball. Two movies about dairying were shown at Lincoln and Washington Schools. The farmers organized a farmer's bulletin board on which they could buy and sell goods. In addition to seventh and eighth grade news, and Washington School news, there were advertisements from the following businesses: Cloquet Co-Operative Society; Arrowhead Cooperative Creamery; and Juntti Bros.

Official highway trail registration form 116, recording and approving the highway trail that started from "Preston Minnesota, and thence via South thru Granger, SGR #10 Fillmore County and terminating at Cahman Iowa" and known as Dvorak Highway. Application was submitted by the Dvorak Highway Association on the 21st day of November 1928 and approved on the 26th day of November 1928. Form features an image of a white square with a black circle in it and a D within that and also a H within the D. It is signed by Commissioner of Highways Charles M. Babcock.
