A handwritten manuscript written by Richard Coxe (1817-1898) chronicling the journey of Edward and Mary Coxe, parents of Richard Coxe and Robert Coxe, from Waterford, Ireland, first to Boston, Massachusetts, and then New York, New York, where Edward died. Mary remarried and died shortly thereafter leaving her sons in the care of her new husband. The manuscript depicts the conditions and circumstances that separated the brothers, Robert and Richard, until their reunion as adults and ultimately brought Richard north to White Bear, Minnesota, where he died in 1898. The manuscript was written circa 1880.

Thirty-one page government document, beginning with a letter form the Secretary of War, in response to Senate resolution of April 12, 1892, relative to the proceedings of the board of officers convened to consider the construction of a bridge in Duluth. This document is discussing placing a bridge over the Duluth ship canal where a bridge has never existed. The document uses the language "Aerial Lift Bridge" which must have been a design under consideration. In fact, the Aerial Ferry Bridge, or Aerial Transporter Bridge was the initial bridge constructed in 1904-1905. It wasn't until 1929 that the first bridge was remodeled with a lift span.

The draft charter, "A Bill for an act of the Minnesota legislature to create a corporate body with the name and style of The Minnesota Academy of Science, is from around 1903, 30 years after its 1873 founding as the Minnesota Academy of Natural Sciences. Signers include Alexander Ramsey and Academy founder N.H. Winchell. Ex-officio members were listed as "the presidents of the Normal Schools at Mankato, Winona, St. Cloud, Moorhead, and Duluth, and the president of the University of Minnesota."

This ledger contains the handwritten minutes of the meetings of the Board of Trustees of the Grand Marais Public Library, in Grand Marais, Minnesota, from the first meeting in December 1904 through September 1967. The establishment and development of the library can be traced through these notes, along with the participation of many prominent community members who considered the library an important asset to their town.
Bachelor of Arts degree certificate for Ole Edward Rolvaag awarded by St. Olaf College of Northfield, Minnesota on June 13, 1905. Signed by J. N. Kildahl and J. O. Hougen. A cut several inches long goes through the top center of the certificate. Document was removed from its frame just prior to scanning.
The declaration of two amendments from 1906 to the constitution of the Minnesota Library Association, one indicating that boards become MLA members with $2.00 initial payment and $1.00 annual payment, and a second amendment calling for the creation of sections (e.g. trustees or college libraries) within the organization that have a place on the annual program.

Diary of Sgt. Philip Olson who served in World War I with the 25th Regiment Engineers, United States Army. After his enlistment, he departed New York for France on October 31, 1917, aboard the transport ship Agamemnon. The journey was eventful due to fears about German U-boats, and an accident which involved their ship being rammed. Upon arrival in France, Olson took part in a number of projects including the building of a docks and doing engineering at the front in Verdun. In addition, he had various duties including working for the supply sergeant, warehouse work, and distributing kits through camp. These duties were performed in a number of locations in France including Brest, Bordeaux, Verdun, and Paris. At the close of the war, Olson took a trip to Monaco and Monte Carlo. After the signing of the Armistice in November 1918, Olson stayed for a time in France. During this time, he and the 25th Engineers aided in construction and rebuilding projects. In March of 1919, Olson returned to the United States by way of New York.

In 1928, the St. Louis County Child Welfare Board was requested by the State Board of Control to sponsor the work for the Blind in this county. This the first use of local management of such a pgoram and was successful. The report describes the Range Broom Factory at Chisholm, Minnesota, that employs several agency clients under the management of R. H. Alcox. This agency operated under the State Department for the Blind, Children's Bureau, Board of Control and the St. Louis County Board of Commissioners. Its work was for the prevention of blindness and the treatment of people with blindness. The reports give objectives, staff, and statistics. Its district included St. Louis, Carlton, Itasca, Cook, Lake, and Koochiching counties.
