A 204 page paperbound booklet from 1895 containing historical facts of each individual town and township in Nobles County. It includes advertisements and the names of local businesses and their proprietors. Also listed are physicians and county officers as well as the names of county residents grouped by city or township.

The first water and electric plant in Worthington was located on the shores of Lake Okabena. A typewritten sticker on the back of the photograph reads: "Worthington, Minnesota First Water and Electric Plant. (Mrs. Anna Cory) Water system installed in 1891 Electric plant installed in 1895 First lights December 10. First patronage 300 lights."

On the far right of the photograph is the bridge over Elk Creek. The farm site is in the background with three men, two dogs and eight horses and mules by the farm implements.

The Reverend Edwin W. Lanham in foreground on the shore of Lake Okabena. Lanham was the pastor at the Worthington Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1904 to 1907. In the background is a sailboat on Okabena Lake.

Erastus Church with a vegetable wagon and a white horse. Erastus Church was a colorful Worthington character who peddled vegetables, picked up junk and distinguished himself by having a street named in his honor, because he lived on that street. The photograph is dated September 26, 1900. Poster in the window promotes the candidacy of William McKinley over William Jennings Bryan. It proclaims: "McKinley was right in 1896." Note: This information taken from a newspaper article with same picture, in the Worthington Centennial July 22, 1972. We think it is a Buchan photo but don't know for sure.

Smallwood, M.D. (1882/84-1933) aka Jet; daughter Mary (Mame or Mamie) Emmaline Smallwood Cashel (1888-1931).
