Studio portrait of Ole Sverre Rigg (1825-1909) and Johanne Sophie Quam Rigg. They were immigrant farmers in Minnewaska Township. They had eleven children, five of whom lived to adulthood.
Studio portrait of Reverend Peter S. Reque (July 15, 1842-October 4, 1879). Reque served in the Civil War. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1869. He was called to "Vor Frelsers Menighet" and was the first resident Lutheran pastor in Pope and Stevens counties.

Studio portrait of Reverend Magnus Koefod. He was born in Norway on March 9, 1848. He was pastor of Indherred Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minnesota from 1875 until 1892.
Studio portrait of Dr. J. G. Whittemore. In addition to medical practice, Whittemore was Pope County Auditor for six years and served two terms in the Minnesota Legislature.

White Bear Lake Church, 1867-1933. The name changed to Barsness Lutheran Church reflecting its location in Barsness Township in 1933 and remains an active congregation in 2010. This image shows the exterior of the church built in 1883, north and west facades as viewed from across the cemetery. A new basement was built under the structure in 1930 and was fully remodeled and redecorated in 1937.
The Chippewa Lutheran Church building was completed in 1885. The name of the church changed to Rolling Forks Lutheran Church in 1958. The building was moved to the village of Swift Falls in 1966 where it still stands as part of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, ELCA.
A patriotic parade on Minnesota Avenue as seen from the Pope County Courthouse lawn. The Glenwood Hotel is seen in the background. The original hotel structure (1881) is seen on Minnesota Reflections as the Bartke Residence and drug store. Matt Ward expanded the property into the Glenwood Hotel, also known as the Ward Hotel. The Ward Family operated the hotel from 1885 to 1945. The building was razed in 1945, the lumber salvaged to construct a new Lake Reno Presbyterian Church north of Glenwood at the corner of MN Highway 29 and Pope County Highway 28.
Men and horses grading a bed for the Duluth, Huron and Denver Railroad. The railroad was never completed. The men were farmers from Grove Lake, Minnesota. Bert Falkner is in the lower right hand corner.
Portrait of Iver P. Barsness and Ingebar Drevdahl Barsness. They emigrated from Norway in 1854 settling first near Madison, Wisconsin. In 1870, they were among the first settlers in Walden Township in Pope County.
