The Thompson Ferry operated across the Minntesota River between Jordan, Minnesota and San Francisco Township, Carver County. The first 51 minutes is filmed in Fritz Westlund's home in Chaska. Fritz and interviewers discuss construction of the ferry; construction of the winch, cable, and deadman anchors; use of a ""ferry club."" Starting at 51:30, interviewers and Fritz are at the former ferry location on the banks of the Minnesota River.
