A reproduction of a slide show and audio cassette created in the 1970's to educate library staff and to promote Minitex services. As part of the Minitex 50th Anniversary, the video was edited in 2021 by Carol Nelson with assistance from former Minitex staff Kathy Drozd, Dave Paulson, and Mark Eckes. Topics in the presentation include: Minitex resource sharing among libraries, the Minitex Union List of Serials, the technology used to communicate between libraries for resource sharing, the Minitex Reference and Information Network, Minitex workshops and training sessions, and how Minitex was initially funded.
The Warden's House is a 14 room house constructed for the Wardens of the Minnesota Territorial Prison in 1853. The house is at 602 Main Street North and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Library service to this area of Hennepin County began in the late 1800s, when the library was housed in office space in the Fletcher-Loring Flour Mill at Minnetonka Mills. For over a century, the library operated out of various locations in the community. The first permanent location opened on Excelsior Boulevard in 1989.

View of Mitchell Hall across the Mississippi River, woman sits at riverfront looking across. Mitchell Hall was completed in 1958 as a dormitory for women. The building was named for William B. Mitchell, who served as St. Cloud State's resident director from 1877 to 1901.
A moving truck is parked behind the St. Cloud Public Library building. Behind the truck is the former Unity Church, which was purchased by the City of St. Cloud in 1936 and renamed the Community Building. Stearns County Library occupied this structure from the early 1940s until the creation of the Great River Regional Library system in 1969, after which it housed the Branch and Bookmobile Department of GRRL.
In the summer of 1979, the St. Cloud Public Lbrary moved from its 1902 Carnegie building at 124 Fifth Avenue South to a successor building at 405 West Germain Street. This photograph shows a moving truck loaded with book carts transferring library materials. The National Guard assisted with the move.
The Mulvey House is located at 622 Churchill Street West in Stillwater, Minnesota. The refined, well-executed and respectfully preserved exterior of this Italianate home makes this one of the finest examples of its kind in Stillwater, Minnesota. The Mulveys owned a small, one-story house before the Civil War. Over time, other additions were made to the rear of the home. The site also includes a stone carriage house, built to house James Mulvey's horses and carriage collection.
Water diverted from Sunrise Drive in St. Peter is shown flowing along North Eighth and West Madison Streets during the 1965 flood. The water ultimately reached the Minnesota River after crossing the Recreation Field east of North Fifth Street. The first library in the Osseo community opened in 1922 in the Commercial Club Room on the upper floor of the Hovorka drugstore. Over the next several years, the library moved to the local Town Hall, a space in the village�s former jail, the Masonic building, and finally to its current location in Osseo City Hall.

Exterior view of the Penn Lake branch of Hennepin County Library, 8800 Penn Avenue South, Bloomington, Minnesota. Nestled between large pine and oak trees, Penn Lake Library opened in 1970. It was the first free-standing library built in the City of Bloomington. The library was renovated in 2003. In the decades before 1970, the library operated out of various locations in the community including Bloomington Schools Administration Building (1954-57) and Lincoln High School (1957-62).

This two story former Post Office Building is Classical Revival style with beige brick walls. The Architect was James Knox Taylor, Supervising Architect of the Treasury.
