This is an original picture, taken by Wilize (?) at the time, showing the ruins of Gladstone Hall, Red Wing, after the building had collapsed under the heft of 3 or 4 feet of heavy snow. The picture was gotten from W. S. Scott, Red Wing, Minn., in June, 1933. Note that Bush Street is covered and completely blockaded by stone and snow. (B. Eide)

Main Street in Crosby, Minnesota, had not been paved at the time of this photograph. The businesses are a hardware store and meat market, The Crosby Crucible newspaper, Will S. Pitt Real Estate and First State Bank of Crosby. The back of the postcard has a message to Mrs. Joe Hester of Crosby, Minnesota. It is postmarked Park Rapids, Minnesota, stamped with a 2 cent stamp and a Christmas Seal.

City Drug Store, South Front Street, with Doctor McMahan's Office, five men, and horse and buggy. Caption on back reads, "James Ray Tinkcom, who arrived in Mankato in 1856, operated the City Drug Store. Mr. Tinkcom studied medicine in New York before coming to Mankato and he later undertook the manufacture of certain medicines. The City Drug Store was located on the corner of Front and Hickory Streets. In the photograph above, a sign at the top of the stairway carried the name of Dr. William McMahan. It is believed the man standing at the top of the stairs is Dr. McMahan. In 1856 four doctors, Dr. Moses R. Wickersham, Dr. William R. McMahan, Dr. William F. Lewis and Dr. A. G. Dornberg, arrived in Mankato and opened offices."

The Excelsior Block Built in 1882 is a two story, four bay, red brick structure trimmed in stone. Second story windows have a Queen Anne-style colored glass window transoms. There is elaborate corbelling on the brick cornice and a paneled metal parapet with central gabled configuration.
