Schools in north-central Minnesota (1871-1909). In 1887, Sisters Clara Billig and Appolonia Jensen began teaching in this one-room parish/district school and convent in Buckman. A combination parochial-district school continued there without opposition for at least another 50 years (Saint Benedict's Monastery Archives).
Washington Elementary School was built by Minneapolis architect LeRoy Buffington in 1882. It was razed in 1890 in order to build Central High School on the same site. The High School was completed in 1892.

The south side and the rear of the Nicollet County Bank in St. Peter, which was located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Nassau Street. St. Peter barber George Kramer is the second man from the left, followed by John Rausch, Jr. and Charles Clark. The exact identities of the remaining two people are not known.

This contract, for a piece of land in Lyon County, Iowa, is between Thomas Ashton of Close Brothers & Company and W.E. Shimer of Lyon County, Iowa. It is for the southwest quarter of Section 15 in township 98 North, of Range 46 West of the fifth principal meridian. This is in Doon Township, Lyon County, Iowa. The contract involves 160 acres for the sum of $1840 and includes detail of payment made between December 13, 1888, and paid in full February 17, 1990. The Close Brothers & Company, composed of William Close, James Close, John Close, Frederick Close and S.H. Graves, organized in 1876 and located in Pipestone in 1883. They also operated under the business names Western Land Company and the South Minnesota Land Company.
