After a city hall renovation in September 1991, the Sandstone Public Library expanded its space in the building by 3,400 square feet. Founded in 1959, ECRL is the oldest existing regional public library system in Minnesota. Headquartered in Cambridge, it is a consolidated library system with 14 libraries and Outreach Services and serves residents in Aitkin, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties.
A Chisago County library that maintains its independence as an unaffiliated library is the Taylors Falls Public Library, housed in this building since 1887.
House located in Lakefield on 701 Douglas Street. Original builder was a Mr. A. N.. Douglass; who's daughter had tuberculosis and it was built to aid in the cure. Built in 1893 with maximum number of window for sunshine and fresh air, it contains 57 windows.
Exterior view of the the Winslow House. Built 1857 on the east bank of St. Anthony Falls, Winslow House was orginally a hotel for Southern tourists. It was leased by Edward Neill for $1,200 per year to house the Baldwin School, the preparatory school Neill founded. Owner Charles Macalester, namesake of Macalester College, deeded the building to school Trustees.
