Frank M. Eddy (1856-1929) was the first native Minnesotan to represent our state in Congress. Eddy was Pope County clerk of court for ten years, Seventh District Representative to Congress (1895-1903), publisher of the Sauk Centre Herald (1916), and worked in the Minnesota Secretary of State's office (1918-1929). This building was erected in 1903 and housed the first bank in Pine River. Less than a year after completion, a druggist was hired to set up shop in part of the building. In 1919 the bank received a national charter becoming the First National Bank of Pine River.
