This watercolor drawing depicts "Bear Woman," a strong Chippewa woman with a bear crown. In the background another bear wades toward the reeds and the shoreline. This is one print in a series created for the Freshwater Society in Excelsior, Minnesota, donated to the Westonka Historical Society; one of a limited edition created in 1981-1985.
Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1301 County Road 42 East, Burnsville Minnesota was established in 1928 in the Orchard Lake area of Burnsville and Lakeville. In 1959 they purchased property for a new church, which was completed in 1961. In 1984 they dedicated a new church, shown here.
University of Minnesota horticulturist Jane P. McKinnon received the Director's Award to Distinguished Faculty from Gerald Miller, assistand director for the Agricultural Ext6ension Service's agriculture program. McKinnon is well known throughout Minnesota for her work in Extension's Master Gardener program and in helping cities slow the spread of Dutch Elm disease and establishing mixed urban forests.
