Notes from the 12th annual conference of the Minnesota Library Association (MLA) held on October 27-28 in Mankato, Minnesota. Mr. C. E. Wise, president of the Mankato Library Board, provided the welcoming address. Presentations were given on the topics of reference service in small libraries, county extension of library services in rural areas, reading for children, a report from the Committee on State Documents, and conducting a library on $1000 a year. Six resolutions are recorded and a list of elected officers is included.

Letter from the Minnesota Library Association Radio Representative Frances R. Shipman to Secretary Marian Phillips reporting on activities for the 1943-1944 year. Activities included the arrangement of contestants for the Twin Cities Radio Quiz of November 1, 1943, which included members of the Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Libraries. Contest winnings were donated to the Children's Memorial Library Fund.

Baldwin was presented with a check of $250.00 and a book containing letters of appreciation from the members of the association. This was to recognize Clara Baldwin's thirty years of service to the Minnesota Library Association.

The report also includes a recap of the MLA 45th Annual Meeting held at the University of Minnesota on October 14, 1937, with financial report, and review of Membership, Certification, and State Planning Committees. Several motions were passed, including the creation of Junior Members Section. Recently deceased members, Miriam E. Carey, teacher and organizer for the Library Commission, and Harriet A. Wood, Supervisor of School Libraries, were remembered.
