In 1904, as a University of Minnesota student, Truman Elwell Rickard (composed the music and wrote the original words for "Hail! Minnesota," which became the Minnesota state song in 1945. Rickard later married Grace Larson, a daughter of L.W. Larson, a prominant early Fosston settler.
The Campbell House, between 1900 and 1963, was known as: The Boarding House, Campbell House, McDonnell's Hotel, and Green Hotel. In 1963 it was burnt by the fire department and became the site of the Mark Egan gas station. Later the Dan Patch Inn, now the Quality Inn, was built on the site on Highway 13, Savage Minnesota.

This article describes the dedication exercises that took place on November 5, 1916, for the opening of the Charles Thompson Memorial Hall. This building is described as a gift to the deaf people of Minnesota by Mrs. Charles Thompson, as a memorial to her husband, the late Charles Thompson.

A studio portrait of Dr. Chauncey Hobart, 1811-1904. Presiding Elder of the Minnesota District of the Wisconsin Conference, 1884. He presided over the first Annual Conference Session of the Minnesota Conference held at Red Wing 1856. Hobart Methodist Church, Minneapolis was named for him. Hobart wrote two books, "Recollections of My Life" (1885) and "History of Methodism in Minnesota" (1887).
