Demos Young, Sever Sanderson, Louis Eckstrom, Louis Roberts, and Jesse Parsons are named on the reverse of the photo. An unidentified man is between Roberts and Parsons. Knoll is behind the bar.

These boats were towed upstream to the furthest point of the logging operation and then floated downstream as the timber crews worked the logs down the river. This practice kept the bunkhouse and cook shanties close to where the men were working.

First bridge over the Mississippi River that connected Anoka and Champlin, MN. The original bridge was constructed in 1884 and stood until 1929 when the current Anoka-Champlin bridge was completed.

This photograph shows the St. Peter Power House, which contained two dynamos to provide electricity, and wells and pumps to provide water to the city. The building, which was built in 1888, was located on a hillside slightly south of the eastern end of Nassau street in St. Peter.

Published by the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railroad in a series of images taken by George A. Nelson. This image shows the passenger and coal docks. Misidentified as the first boat load of rails as the Ossifrage was not built until 1886 and the coal docks were not built until 1888. Therefore this photo dates to around 1889.

Exterior view of the blacksmith shop operated by Martin Lucken in St. Peter. It was immediately south of Ole Fredrickson's construction firm, which was on the southwest corner of Third and Grace streets in St. Peter.
Harry Prescott and Robert Mars were both associated as workers with the Marshall Wells Hardware firm in Duluth. It is unclear if they began an earlier hardware enterprise together.

Interior view of the Millinery store owned and operated by Katherine Spaith. Pictured are Katherine Spaith and sister Julia O'Hearn. Spaith arrived in Two Harbors in 1890 and turned the old post office on Poplar Street into her millinery store. She also was the first woman in Lake County to take up her rights in homestead and timber lands.
