The photograph is taken from present day 4th corners of Washington and 4th Streets. Window frames are now installed being installed on the third floors of the library. The roof will soon enclose the library. The power lift is still needed for the finishing work.
The photograph is taken from an elevated position on present day Kellogg Boulevard. Roof trusses are in place and soon the roofing materials will be fixed in place. The power lift is still needed to move materials to the various floors of the library. Construction workers can be seen on the roof. Below the power lift can be seen three round arches. These arches make up the loading and delivery dock for the library.
The photograph is taken from an elevated position on present day Kellogg Boulevard. The scaffolds with their cranes, and the power lift have been removed. Finishing work continues on the room. Three rectangular openings on the roof will be for skylights. Windows that have the frames installed are now being sealed.
Workmen move supplies prior to placing fill in the retaining wall below the Robert Street bridge. The retaining wall was part of general improvements to the St. Paul harbor and Upper Mississippi River in and around the city of St. Paul, Minnesota. Work on the project was completed in 1936.
The 16mm films and projectors required continual maintenance. Here, Ron McGriff, assistant director, and Alzina Stone, film coordinator, troubleshoot a problem at the East Central Regional Library Headquarters in 1976. Founded in 1959, ECRL is the oldest existing regional public library system in Minnesota. Headquartered in Cambridge, it is a consolidated library system with 14 libraries and Outreach Services and serves residents in Aitkin, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties.
The Working Man's Reading Room at Minnesota Avenue, circa 1900 (description from, "The Bemidji Area Looking Back" Pediment Publishing, 2004). Next door to the Reading Room is The People's Barber Shop and a shoe repair shop.
A typewritten note attached to the photo reads: "Workers Who Read -- Since 1905 the Library has given service to telephone operators, firemen, clerks, streetcar employees and many other groups who find it difficult to get to the Central or branch libraries. There are now 45 stations located in factories and business houses. Please return to Minneapolis Public Library, Publicity Office, Hennepin at 10th." Minneapolis Public Library was founded in 1885 and merged with Hennepin County Library in 2008.

Three unidentified men stand sharpening an axe. "Hachsharah" means "training" or "preparation" in Hebrew. Hachsharah were training farms for Jews who wished to settle in Palestine and become citizens. Harchsharah farms were located throughout Eastern Europe and the United States, funded by a variety of Zionist groups. The Hachsharah farm in Anoka was supported by Habonim, an international Zionist youth organization.

Two unidentified men in automobiles loaded with crates. A third unidentified individual stands behind them. The Goldishes were one of a small number of Jewish families who lived and worked along the North Shore in the commercial fishing industry. They both fished and processed their catch for market.

Women's organization, the Woodstock Guards of Loyalty, posing in uniform on the steps of the Pipestone County Courthouse. The purpose of the group was to band the ladies together to assist in carrying on the work of the men who were called to the colors, to help the United States in the prosecution of the war and, if need be, to go on the battle line to fight for democracy.
