The Beisswenger and Johnson Grocery was located in the former Transit Hotel building. Lawrence Johnson, left, with his brother-in-law, Adoph Beisswenger, and their wives, Mable Beisswenger, center, and Rose Johnson, right, owned the store. Later the store moved across the street to the Treat Building, where it was in business until the 1960s.

Buildings at 114 Chestnut Street East and 116 Chestnut Street East, Stillwater, Minnesota. On the left is the Brunswick House, constructed by William C. Penny, a carpenter by trade, about 1848, the same year in which Stillwater was platted as a town and the year the territorial convention took place. In 1849 the first meeting of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) in Minnesota took place in the upstairs of the house. The Pennys sold the house in 1863 to Julius Brunswick. Brunswick, from Switzerland, worked in the mercantile trade.
Five men are posed on the front porch of the E. D. Buck Store in High Forest, Minnesota. The men are, left to right: Charles Armstrong, Harry Johnson, Vet Johnson, E. D. Buck, V. C. Dickey. After serving in the civil War, E. D. Buck retired to High forest and engaged in the mercantile business.

Two buildings that were built pre-1884: Cat Ballou's at 110-112 North Main Street and Stillwater Book and Stationary at 114 North Main Street in Stillwater, Minnesota.
Construction began in 1965 for the Cedarvale Mall, Highway 13, Eagan, Minnesota's first major shopping center, which was enclosed. Included were a grocery, drug, hardware, shoe repair, clothing and specialty shops. In 2008 the mall was torn down and replaced by Twin Cities Premium Outlets.

The Connolly Shoe Building was built 1905 at 123 Second Street South in Stillwater, Minnesota. In 1905 Mr. Thomas F. Connolly, manager of the Stillwater Territorial Prison shoe shop was recruited to run new enterprise, a shoe factory, to provide last work for the residents of Stillwater.
This photograph shows Cook's Café and Hotel and the J. C. Penney Store in St. Peter. The café and the associated hotel were at 212 South Minnesota Avenue, and the Penney Store was at 208 South Minnesota Avenue.
