Exterior view of the two story wooden school in Warroad during the winter. A few log buildings are located on the right side of the school and several smaller buildings can be seen behind the building.
Included in the montage are pictures of the water tower (upper center), the high school (center right); Fosston Hospital (lower right), Fosston Woolen Mills (lower left), and the S.S. Stadsvold Fosston Elevator and Flouring Mills (center left). A hadwritten note on the back says, ""The village fathers and hangers on, and saloon keepers and their bartenders, as well as a few structures, about 1905 in the Village of Fosston.""
Ely's original high school, Old High functioned in that capacity from 1905 until 1924 when the new high school opened. It later became Ely Junior College, the second such college in the State.

Central Hillside; Duluth Central High school building was the talk of the country when it was built in 1891-1892; architects Palmer and Hall of Duluth based the school's design on Richardson's Romanesque Allegheny Courthouse in Pittsburgh; the carving was done by Duluthian O.
