The Kongsvinger Symphonia Band, associated with Kongsvinger Free Lutheran Church of Rendsville Township, existed from ca. 1907 until 1924. The band produced a concert series and played for community events in the surrounding area. Originally directed by Rev. Abs from Hancock, it was later directed by Adolph Sherstad. This photograph shows the Marcato Orchestra, which was led by James Welsh of St. Peter. The five members were all from the Norseland Band. They included cornet players Julius Annexstad and Bennett Johnson, James Welsh on the sousaphone, saxophone player Raymond Johnson, and Julius Wagner on trombone.

Note that the instrumentation listed in the 1896 newspaper does not correspond to the instruments held by the players in the photograph, so the identification given above should not be taken as entirely accurate.

Uniformed members of the Nicollet Germania Band pose outside. The band was organized in the latter 1880s by Frank Hackbarth, and lasted until 1925. It was a very active band, playing for many social events.
